Swim Team Banquet

Please find below a link for the swim team banquet RSVP no later than March 7th.
Details:
Tuesday, March 12th at 6:30 pm at 800 E Roosevelt Ave (Ward Bldg)
Swimmers and coaches are free all others will be $15 payable to the East High Treasurer.
The night will include a great meal along with awards.
Swimmers BRING your freshly laundered deck coat to the banquet – failure to return your deck coat results in a $125 fine being placed on your account at school.

Thank you to all who helped make this season a success. A huge thank you to all the parents and families who support our team this season with food, timing, transportation, officiating, coordinating, hosting, photographing and the list goes on…THANK YOU!!!!
We wrapped up state last evening with some great results! Attached is the finals for the 5A State Meet. The competition is the toughest in the state and we are proud of all of you who swam your hearts out and enjoyed the meet! Each team mate supported and encouraged one another during the state meet – way to go swimmers!!
Connor Rich had a successful final state meet in the 200 Medley Relay, 100 Back and 100 Fly. He placed 15th overall with a time of 58.23, and 20th in the 100 Fly with a time of 57.04.
Sebastian Trias placed 18th in the 50 Free with a time of 23.41 and also swam the 200 Medley Relay.
Katya Hulse found her way to the podium in the 100 Back by placing 7th with a time of 59.90 and placed 10th in the 100 Free with a time of 55.31. She also swam in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay.
Magy Mayer was awarded 6th place in the 200 Free with a time of 200.79 and placed 14th in the 100 Free with a time of 56.99. She also was a member of the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays.
Lily Mayer swam for 5th place in the 50 Free with a time of 24.79 and swam a 5.23.94 for 6th place in the 500 Free. She joined her teammates in the 200 Free and 200 Medley Relays.
Huge shout out to these girls for breaking the minute mark in the 100 Free during the 400 Free Relay:
Lydia Bates swam 58.61
Ashleigh Tanner swam 58.97
Lainie Bell swam 58.84
The boys 200 Medley Relay of Connor Rich, Sebastian Tries, Harry Henshaw and Dominic Gannon had a time of 146.64 and placed 14th overall.
The girls Relays:
200 Medley of Katya Hulse, Lily Mayer, Nele Kaufusi and Magy Mayer was unfortunately DQ’d:(
200 Free of Katya Hulse, Nele Kaufusi, Magy Mayer and Lily Mayer placed 6th with a time of 143.04.
400 Free of Lydia Bates, Aliyah Gomez, Ashleigh Tanner and Lainie Bell  placed 13th with at time of 400.40.

Next up is our all team banquet! Currently scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th – more information and invitation to follow.

Deck coats will be turned in at the banquet.

Week #18 STATE MEET WEEK!

2019 East High State Swim Team

Week Highlights

This past week was focused on preparing for the state meet. Thank you to the Mayer and Gannon families for providing breakfast for the team this week. Thank you to MacKenzie Harris for taking photos! As we head into state week there are a few upcoming highlights.

Important Dates

2/4 -2/7 ONLY afternoon practice. There will NOT be any morning practices this week or dryland.

2/6 State Dinner Mayer’s at 6pm

2/8 State Meet at BYU Richardson Pool

  • All state swimmers and alternates attend
  • Prelims of individual events only
  • Bus leaves at 6am from East (normal spot)
  • Amanda Rich and Jennifer Hulse will provide bus snacks
  • Any other team swimmer or parents are welcome to ride the bus and will need to purchase entrance tickets once at BYU – swimmers not on the state team will need a parent to excuse them from school
  • Families driving to the meet on Friday – BYU is in session so pay close attention to parking restrictions (more info in the attached State Info)

2/9 State Meet at BYU Richardson Pool

  • All state swimmers and alternates attend
  • Full meet schedule of individual event finals and all relays
  • Bus leaves at 11am from East (normal spot)
  • Amanda Rich and Jennifer Hulse will provide bus snacks
  • Any other team swimmer or parents are welcome to ride the bus and will need to purchase entrance tickets once at BYU
  • Families driving to the meet on Saturday parking will be busy as we are swimming in session 2
  • We will be stopping for dinner location to be determined

Some of you may have heard about the UHSAA deciding to change the boundaries for our region for the next school year. UHSAA has decided to place East back in Region 6 in 5A! That is great news for all the teams and allows for friendly local competition.

 

Swimmer of the Meet

  • Connor Rich – 100 fly and 100 back – amazing time drops and reaching his high school goal of breaking a minute in the 100 back
  • Laine Bell – 200 Free and 100 fly for incredible time drops
  • Lydia Bates – for accomplishing her goal of breaking a minute in the 100 free
  • Lily Mayer – for a wickedly fast time in the 50 free both in the individual event and 200 Free Relay
  • Aliyah Gomez, Ashleigh Tanner, Lydia Bates and Laine Bell in the girls 400 Free Relay for all having really fast swims.

the bus leaves East at 145pm on Saturday – all swimmer must ride the bus:)
The first is the waiver that ALL swimmers must sign in order to swim at the U –

per UHSAA swimmers must wear the RED E cap no other caps allowed no previous state caps, other team caps all EAST swimmers must wear the RED E cap today!

Week #16!! JV Regions and Regions

Week Highlights

What a quick week and lots of fun was had at the team sleepovers thank you Rich and Struhs families for hosting all the kids! Thank you to the Bates for the hosting the team dinner, the Mayers and Hunts for supplying the team with breakfast this past week, and the Stewarts and Gannons for supplying endless meet snacks. A special thank you to MacKenzie Harris for taking our team pictures.  Well here we are … at the JV Region and Region Meet week. Please make sure all JV and Leopard swimmers talk with the coaches to determine if they are swimming at Regions on Saturday.

A quick note in regards to JV Regions and Regions – JV Regions is on the 22nd at Murray and will be the Leopards and JV teams with unlimited entries, Varsity and Varsity Invited will have normal practice that day. Regions is on the 26th at the U and will start at 4pm with limited entries (5 per individual event and 1 per relay) and will consist mostly of Varsity and Varsity Invited, however there are some events in which select Leopard and JV swimmers will be swimming. Max will inform the swimmers who is swimming at JV Regions and at Regions.
