Week #12 – Away Meet vs West…and then No School!

Week Highlights

Thank you to all who showed support for our Seniors at Tuesday’s meet! It was great to see our senior boys recognized for their hard work and dedication to not only swimming but also to their academics! Thanks to The Rich and Hulse families for providing meals to the team and The Olson, Chamberlain, Gomez, Middleton and Robbins families for supplying meet snacks.  A special thank you to Head Coach Max for coordinating Distance Coach Michele Lowry to come talk with the swimmers – her message focused on attitude is what counts and removing the negative thoughts and getting in the pool and working hard!

As we enter the last week of school and are getting excited to have some time away from academics we must still swim. There will be normal practice over the entire break and it does count toward attendance. Please ensure you are at practice as once we return to school the end of the season is quickly on the horizon and qualifying for the State Meet becomes the focus. The practice times will remain the same as that is our allotted pool time. There will be some changes to dryland – stay tuned for details as the coaches are working those out.

Congratulations to the following who were selected as swimmer of the meet by their coaches:

Skyline at East:

  • Adam Oviedo did a great job in the 100 Free by dropping over a second
  • Kate Fagergren Had a dramatic time drop in the 200 IM of over 8 seconds
  • Michael Haggard dropped more than 3 seconds in the 100 Breast
  • Isaac Whitacre had an amazing almost 6 second drop in the 100 Back

 

Judge Invite:

  • Dominic Gannon for a dramatic time drop in 100 Breast and 100 Free
  • Addie Stewart for swimming an amazing 50 Free
  • Ian Robbins for an over 8 second drop in the 500 Free
  • Tenzin Lhamo swam more than 2 seconds faster in the 100 Free
  • Matthew Ricks dropped more than 4 seconds in the 100 Free
  • Sophie Struhs for swimming 3 seconds faster in the 100 Breast

Parents

  • Please communicate with Max at 801-231-2879 for all upcoming holiday plans where your swimmer will not be at practice
  • Friendly reminder ALL swimmers must ride the bus to and from meets
    • The coaches take on responsibility for your child and when they are missing from the bus they spend time looking for your child for safety reasons please help us reinforce this with your swimmer. It is about their safety.
